Modernism is an important critical trend. It took birth from the decline of progressive movement in Urdu. In Urdu literature, this trend got flourished after the division of Sub-continent. Modernism actually indicates the change that bursts out breaking the shackles of tradition. In literature and arts, modernism expresses itself through rationalism but it concentrates on technic and the art. However, instead of restricting itself on modernity, it focuses on thought process and the essence of feelings. The essence that enables a writer to dive into the futuristic realms besides probing into the prevailing realities.
