Abstract
A 'pen picture' is what is traditionally called a short bio-sketch, or personal sketch. It tells the story of a person's character, life, and achievements. A biographical sketch is shorter and much more specific. The sketch should provide readers with basic information about the person, and give them a sense of the person's character. A biographical sketch can be written to give people more information about a historical figure. Here an attempt is made for critical analysis a biographical sketch written by Dr. GYAN CHAND about a famous poet, FIRAQ GORUKHPURI. Dr. GYAN CHAND has only highlighted the negative aspects of FIRAQ’s life while a biographical sketch is an interesting combination of dark and good traits of the person. He has ignored to discover the dormant shades of FIRAQ’s life. He turned black a number of pages in uncovering FIRAQ’s homosexuality and vanity.
