Abstract

Abul Faza siddiqui l was a famous essayist and novelist as well as a Humanist

and free-thinker. A versatile and prolific writer, he drew his characters from the

rural and feudal environment and portrayed them with engaging realism. Abul

Fazal wrote in a variety of genres: novels, short stories, plays, memoirs, travels

etc. Abul Fazal Siddiqui's description of the vagaries of the feudal system is

hauntingly realistic. His love and sympathy for the poor and emaciated people

is evident from his writings. It can be said without any fear of contradiction that

the writer had close links with the harsh realities of an unpredictable life and

fast changing conditions of the environment. Through his negative characters

he constantly and faithfully portrayed the rural spirit, the problems and

drawbacks of the rural society. His negative characters, environment and even

the language that his characters speak are a true depiction of life.
