Urdu Lughat (Tareekhi Usool Per) is the first voluminous Urdu dictionary (on historical principles) by Urdu Lughat Board,Karachi . It’s  editors has compiled it on historical principles taken by Oxford English Dictionary (on Historical Principles), popularly Known as OED. This comprehensive reference work contains two hundred and sixty four thousand entries with their lexical, grammatical and etymological information. However, this article discusses the information about origins and etymology given in the dictionary and suggests that the compilers of Urdu Lughat(Tareekhi Usool per) should take notice of  mistakes  as soon as possible
