Abstract

Poetic imagery is an effective tool to draw readers into sensory experience. The poet uses different kinds of images to explain thoughts, feelings, emotions, incidents and scenes in poetry. Besides other types of imagery, the visual imagery is the most effective type of imagery. In Urdu poetry there are many excellent examples of visual imagery.

Zia Jalindhari is a well-known Urdu poet whose poems contain best examples of visual imagery. Due to imagery, elements in his poem spoke off the senses of the reader His Poem creates dynamic and strong mental pictures and sensations in the mind of readers. This aspect of his poetry has been discussed and analyzed in this article.
