Dastan belongs to the oldest genres of Urdu literature. Dastan is regarded as one of the most influential writings of its time. Style is among the characteristics of the prose dastan. In reading the dastan, the reader is first affected by the style. The simplicity and interest of the style compel the reader to move forward. . That’s why the Dastan writer focuses more on style. The Dastan writer’s attempt was to explain the contents of the story in such a way and to adopt a style so that the reader was compelled to read the story. We find different types of style in these dastans. This article discusses the stylistic study of Urdu prose dastans.
