Pitras Bukhari’s book with the title “ Pitras kay Mazameen” is one of the valuable asset of  Urdu literature. His writing falls in literary genera called essay. But these can only roughly be called essays because they lack certain characteristics of essays. The plot, unity of effect, the story and the dialogues give these writings a flavor of fiction. This research aims at presenting an analytical study of his writings in the light of most appropriate definition of essay and fiction.
