Biography is the detailed description of a person’s life whereas autobiography is “the story of a person’s life written by that person”. Autobiography is an authentic and reliable source to preserve the history of one’s time period. In world literature autobiography is the most important genre. so many writers, poets, political leaders, philosophers, intellectuals and other great personalities of world writes their personal experiences by autobiography. An individual effort becomes in the process of Autobiography. The purpose of auto biography is to give you real and genuine life history of the person you are reading about. In 18^th century under the influence of English literature autobiography was introduced in Urdu literature. Its stylistic features developed with the passage of time. After the emergence of Pakistan writers paid special attention upon autobiography development. This article critically analyze autobiography in Pakistani literature.
