Abstract

In Urdu literature, “novel” is a type of prose writings in which the facts of life are told in the form of a story. In other words, the novel is a pattern of combination of reality and imagination. Just as the novel has a prominent position in prose writings, so as the “Aadurshi” character in different types of characters in the novel.

“Aadursh” is a Sanskrit word which means “imaginative”. The term refers to anything that is related to idea or imagination. In Urdu literature, the term refers to the highest idea or goal which the ultimate distinction of human actions, thoughts, desires and characters. A common man can live as he pleases, but a sensitive and a serious man goes through great hardship in his life. His this anguish arises from the conflict of reality and imagination. His thinking, his ideology and his mission are different from an ordinary man. He wants to fulfill his mission in the society but when his wishes are not fulfilled then his goals turn into “Aadursh” which give him the means to live. He tries to fulfill his ideology or mission in the society.

Nisar Aziz Butts novel “Nagri Nagri pehra Mussafer” and Rahim Guls novels “Jannat key Talash” have an “Aadarshi” characters. In these novel it is necessary to find out the “Aadarshi” characters, examine their ideas, mental thoughts and perceptions and then to compare them.
