Abstract

Urdu poetry keeps a variety of subjects. The poets have been in practice to express all types of observations and experiences whether those are connected with the society or with their self. Among all the genres of Urdu poetry, Ghazal is the most prominent figure to the extent of limitless ideas and subjects to discuss. Basically, it has been the convention of Urdu Ghazal poets to express the love related feelings in their verses. The religion is at the polar distance from the routine topics of Ghazal but many of our classical and modern poets included religious matters in the Ghazal as Urdu Ghazal keeps the patience to absorb all types of topics in it. Among the modern Urdu Ghazal poets, Jan Kashmiri has added religious subjects and terms comparatively more than that of other some poets. The said poet has 14 Urdu Ghazal books  and total 24. The terms and topic related to Islamic religion used by Jan Kashmiri in his Ghazals have been discussed in this article. This will open new horizons and angles to search Urdu Ghazal more in this context and other related ones as well.
