Abstract

Salahuddin Haider is a progressive prose writer in Urdu literature. Besides other genres of literature, he has also shown his mastery in writing Fables. His collection of Fables entitled "Darindgi ky Ehd men Pagal moor" was published in 1999. He describes various segments of the society in allegorical portrayal of animals and birds. His short accounts are an expression of social injustice, inequality and communal conflicts. As a keen observer of the society, he discusses good as well as bad elements that are pivotal in formation of a societal make up. He also brings forth the factors which are the sole reason of exploitaion of the weak by those who are in power. Through his powerful satire, he discourages the negative aspects and appreciates what is constructive in society.
