Abstract
Sir Syed Ahmed khan is one of the pioneers of
modernity. After 1857 he focused on the development and reformation of Muslims
and spent all his efforts on the education of Muslims. English education and
teaching of modern western studies is the main topic of his writings. He
accepted the supremacy of the west and took a conciliatory attitude with the
English authorities and invited the Muslims of India to political obedience as
well as cultural, cognitive and intellectual obedience to the colonial masters.
