Abstract
Proverbs are rich in national culture and express profound meanings in simple and common sentences. They are not only the fruits of the hard work and crystal of people’s wisdom in various countries, but also contain rich philosophical connotations. Both Urdu language and Chinese language contain large numbers of proverbs, which have not only certain commonalities but also their own national and local characteristics. This paper compares and studies the proverbs in Urdu and Chinese language with the aim to find out the commonalities and the differences between Urdu and Chinese proverbs. The multi-angle comparison and research on Urdu and Chinese proverbs and the analysis of the commonalities and differences in the cultures behind the two languages are able to help us have a better understanding of the two languages and cultures, and to study the profound enlightenment brought by Urdu and Chinese proverbs.
