Abstract
Travelogue is as old as human life. This article discusses the tradition of Urdu travelogues as well as the western culture from the first Urdu travelogue 'Ajaaibaat-e-Farang' i.e 1847 till the partition of Indo Pak i.e 1947. Article also discusses the eastern mindset which has been grown under the postcolonialism era when travelogue writing was its initial stage. There was a huge breach between East and West. The age of Sir Syed and the later era before partition of Indo Pak, saw a development in the style, subject and vocabulary of travel literature. Article depicts all mentioned matters in the light of earlier Urdu travelogue .
