Abstract

The term "Magical realism" translated as “Jadowi Haqiqat” in Urdu is a modern technique in novel. Hawan Ralpho, for the first time, used it in his novels. Gabriel Garcia’s novel, “Hundred Years of Solitude”, is the first demonstration of this technique. In Urdu literature, many a writer such as Qurahtul-Ainn-Haider,Tarrar, Dr.Waheed Ahmad, Akhtar Raza Saleemi and Syed Kashif  Raza has made effective use of this technique in their fictional works. Like Aristotle, they also took it as an effective technique of building narrative structure.

As socio-political scenery since the inception of Pakistan has undergone drastic change, so is the case with writing techniques used for their representation. New methods, approaches and techniques have become effective tools of narratology in world literature. Magical Realism also deals with the analysis of and motives of the technique. The impressions and effects of magical realism upon Urdu Novels have also been critically discussed.
