Abstract
Shafiq Ur Rahman is one of the modern Urdu comic writers. He was famous for his romantic fiction and humorous essays. His literary activities span for almost half a century. They have more humor than the satire. In 1942 his first book “Kirnay” was published. “Shagofy”, “Lahray”, Maddojazar, “Hamaqaty” and “Pachtaway” appeared one after the other at intervals throughout the year, due to which his fame increased. His travelogue “Dajla” has a unique status in the modern travelogues of Urdu literature. His military service provided him an opportunity to work with the British, Australian, New Zealandian, American, Chinese, Iraq and other nations so as to observe their culture and customs. That’s why the influence of western civilization is evident in most of his writings. His writings reflect western civilization in great detail. The atmosphere of his fictions is adorned with western civilization. The artistic skill with which he described the western civilization and observed its custom, culture, way of life and the familiar words of the local dialect. Therefore all such Western elements will be explored and research and criticized.
