Abstract

"Shan Ul Haq Haqqee, the great lexicographer, was associated with the Urdu Dictionary Board Karachi from 1958 to 1975 compiling a monummental 24 Volume (Urdu LughatTarikhi usool per). This work may be termed as his labor of love and devotion. Farhang-e-Talafuz is a pronouncing dictionary of Urdu published by the National Language Auhority Islamabad, which must be obligatory for urdu scholars. Haqqee compiled and transalated eighth and ninth edition of Concise Oxford English Dictionary into Oxford English-Urdu Dictionary a phenomenal work that instantly became a necessity for every scholar and student. This article analyzed the works of Shan-ul-Haqee as lexicographer."
